Your Bucs 2025 end of season record prediction contest

Post by Babeinbucland »

Ok, so from our 2025 schedule below:

1.Delineate which games you predict we will win and which games you predict we will lose - NOT just the end of year record

2.Winner will be determined by how many individual games win/loss predicted correctly NOT the prediction of our total season win/loss record
(although that will be interesting to see regardless).

3. At the end of the season whomever predicted with the most accuracy which specific games we won and which specific games we lost, will win the title of Tampa Bay Bucs ‘Most prolific knowledgable football brain of the game‘.

4.You may edit your pics up until September 7, 2025 12:58 pm

5.If we win more than 11 games I will include a prize for this years winner -

These can be made either male or females: Buc's Earrings, Bucs keychain, Bucs bracelet, Bucs ring -

Week 1: Buccaneers at Falcons

Week 2: Buccaneers at Texans

Week 3: Buccaneers vs. Jets

Week 4: Buccaneers vs. Eagles

Week 5: Buccaneers at Seahawks

Week 6: Buccaneers vs. 49ers

Week 7: Buccaneers at Lions

Week 8: Buccaneers at Saints

Week 9: BYE

Week 10: Buccaneers vs. Patriots

Week 13: Buccaneers vs. Cardinals

Week 14: Buccaneers vs. Saints

Week 15: Buccaneers vs. Falcons

Week 16: Buccaneers at Panthers

Week 17: Buccaneers at Dolphins

Week 18: Buccaneers vs. Panthers

bought the comparison might be interesting.

13-4

Falcons open the season with a statement game. We clean it up with a statement game of our own against the Texans. Jets aren't competing with anyone except for the top pick in the draft. Eagles we show up big for, but come up short. Seahawks we decided to forfeit by wearing the cursed unis. 9ers we snap the two game losing streak. Lions are descending while we are ascending. Saints are competing with the Jets for the #1. Patriots are proving to be a contender, but we come out on top after the bye. Bills are still the Bills, and we come up short, this time. Rams aren't ready for the revenge game.

We win out the rest of the way as Grizzy is really feeling it now, we have too many weapons, and the Defense is starting to gel and take advantage of early leads.

Bring on the playoffs.

I think we go 4-2 in the division, unlike last year, I think we split with ATL & CAR.

I think we lose to Philly, Detroit, LA, & Buffalo.

I don't know about Houston, Seattle, & SF. I gave us a loss at Houston since it's a non-conference game.

A 14 win regular season and #1 seed would be really fun. Baker likely in MVP consideration with that kind of record. Might have to win that game against the Bills though.

Probably I'll make a couple adjustments to this before the season starts. Figure there'll be some teething problems early, on both sides of the ball, but more on the defense, most likely. Both units should be settled in around the bye. but those issues will probably result in TB dropping a game like @SEA which they wouldn't lose at home or if it were later in the season. But things will settle in eventually, and TB will go on wha seems to be becoming a regular thing and go on a run to finish the regular season.

I never seem to be any good at these macro questions.

Week 1: Buccaneers at Falcons - W

Week 2: Buccaneers at Texans - L

Week 3: Buccaneers vs. Jets - W

Week 4: Buccaneers vs. Eagles - L

Week 5: Buccaneers at Seahawks - W

Week 6: Buccaneers vs. 49ers - W

Week 8: Buccaneers at Saints - W

Week 9: BYE

Week 10: Buccaneers vs. Patriots - W

Week 11: Buccaneers at Bills - L

Week 12: Buccaneers at Rams - L

Week 13: Buccaneers vs. Cardinals - W

Week 14: Buccaneers vs. Saints - W

Week 15: Buccaneers vs. Falcons - W

Week 16: Buccaneers at Panthers - W

Week 17: Buccaneers at Dolphins - W

Week 18: Buccaneers vs. Panthers - W

--------------------------------

12-5. Big winning streak cures an uneven start and gets us rolling to playoffs with # 2 seed behind the Eagles.

I can see a lot of mismatched games this year where the offense shows up and then doesn't show up and the defense shows up on games where the offense doesn't show up. That irons itself out end of year where we start being more stable on both sides of the ball and some key players and rookies stabilize things. I'm very much not convinced that Grizzard's "lets open it up and push the ball downfield" (alleged...assuming it isn't a smokescreen...might be) approach, contra last year's married Run/Pass/Screen and Short to Intermediate passing game (pressing -3 to 18 yards and sideline to sideline therein), is the way to go. I think if that is true, it may lead to some undesirable outcomes (spawned from undesirable situations leading to incoherent play sequencing) and it will take him some time to come off of it and recalibrate.

changing mine to 13-4. Flipping that first ATL to a W and the SEA game.

Meh, it's a pretty weak division right now. ATL is trotting out a rookie QB, Bryce Young in CAR didn't have a great preseason, and bottom line he's undersized and doesn't have any elite traits, and NOR is going to start either Rattler or Slough this season. Barring injuries, TB should sweep the division this year. I'll be disappointed if they don't.

Here's how I look at it:

In 2025, does TB have the best coaching staff in the Division? Yes, check

In 2025, does TB have the best management in the Division? Yes, check

In 2025, does TB have the best QB in the Division? yes, check

In 2025, does TB have the best OL in the Division? Yes, check

In 2025, does TB have the best offensive skill players in the division? Yes, check

The only things left are defense and STs. Even if TB doesn't have the best defense and STs in the Division (and I'm not saying that's true, yet), they're better than the other three teams in the division everywhere else, and particularly in the areas that matter.

Now, I'm not saying I'm 100% certain that TB will sweep the Division, but I am saying that I believe it should happen, and I'm sure enough to bet $$$ on it.

There's nothing there I disagree with.

It's still bold. Division games are tough. Week 1 is the big one. If we can smack ATL in the mouth hard enough maybe we can set them on a downhill track, get Kirk talk going, and destabilize that whole regime.

But Penix had now had a second off-season after getting first hand experience. The line is good, Bijan is the truth, and the WRs can ball. I won't mention Pitts but God I hope I don't regret that. They can easily swing upwards and fast.

Canales is working with less but he's overseen some great QB turn arounds and can definitely Ted Lasso a team.

But yeah. Pound for pound on paper we're better. But games are played on Sundays.

Yeah, I'm not buying the "best coaching staff in the division" take. I think ATL under Morris is building out a staff to be reckoned with. They swept us last year and only got better. Week 1 without Wirfs will be no walk in the park.

I agree. They are very similar to us. I love defensive HCs on their second run.

Eh, obviously people will have different opinions about the coaching staff, because we can't really see everything that they do. But here's the thing: which coaching staff has been the most stable? Which coaching staff has been to more playoffs over the last 4 seasons (speaking to 'consistency' here)? Which coaching staff has been to more Championship Games and/or SBs? Pretty sure that's TB, TB, TB.

Well sure it's bold. Not fun if you don't take a swing for the fences once in a while, especially in these prediction threads. But nothing I said was unrealistic. TB doesn't have to do anything wildly exceptional to meet my expectations, they just have to turn the ball over a little less and play a little better defense. I mean, yeah, ATL swept TB last season. But they weren't blow outs. Both were coinflips that TB probably should've won or at least split. And in one of those games neither Evans nor Godwin were available, leaving Otton and Bucky Irving as Baker's main targets. I don't see that happening again, like I don't see TB losing 5 DBs to injury in the first 3 weeks so i think we'll have a better than even shot at sweeping ATL.

Sure, but under Morris, you have coaching leadership that saw weakness, and took steps to improve upon that weakness. There's no guarantee that their DL play and defense overall will be better under a new DC and DL coach, but I'd be surprised if it isn't. Consistency is only a positive when it's consistently good. This defense hasn't been, and could use some change-up.

Passively, we have had some changes there. Remains to be seen who comes out on top, but again, my point was we'd be foolish to just look and assume "yeah, this coaching staff is better because they're more consistent".

Good points. However, when you change OCs/DCs that bring in a new system there’s always a ‘teething’ period, with some up’s and downs before that unit gets comfortable. In my experience, that’s a minimum of roughly 8-12 weeks. Give or take a week or two. So we’ll see how long it takes for ATL-D to get sorted out. And that’s the only team that might make things interesting for the Division. Assuming that Penix is really ready to be a legitimate QB1.

Things could break well for any of them. Carolina looked a lot better end of the year. NO always gives us trouble. I’m a Rattler believer. He almost beat us with no weapons and playing for nothing when we had everything to lose.

Atlanta smacked us twice. We owe them big time.

Between that teething period, and Bowles' tendency to start hot, I hope everything falls in line and that opener is a well deserved beatdown. A statement game early in the season would do well in establishing the offensive rookies, and this new defense putting their stamp on higher aspirations.
