Bucs at Falcons Wk 13 discussion
On September 18, 2014 the Atlanta Falcons beat us at their place 56 to 14!
This must be avenged.

Re: Bucs at Falcons Wk 13 discussion
The Falcons are giving up 27.5 PPG this season. We will be running up the score against them just like week 2.

I’d like to see Carlton Davis and Antonio Brown back this week.
Or do they try to get greedy, let them rest another week, and try to get the W without them?

Taking nothing for granted in this year's NFL. Especially a divisional matchup on the road.
Re: Bucs at Falcons Wk 13 discussion
I just read on another site that the Bucs were tied for 5th in yards per pass attempt! I thought bullshit, but it's true. We are tied with the Packers. Who would have thought? Atlanta is 18th.

The Falcons have beaten 5 teams this year. Chances are some of those fanbases went into those games thinking, "The Falcons suck, we got this."
This is a really bizarre year. Every team has at least 2 losses. Every team except Detroit has at least 2 wins. We've been talking about parity for years, but I've never seen a year like this. We're squarely in "Any Given Sunday" land.
I *feel* like this is a game we should win solidly. But if we think we're going to show up and "World Champ" them by virtue of our 53 man roster, they're just as capable of beating us as the WFT was.

Re: Bucs at Falcons Wk 13 discussion
The game should be a blowout, at least on paper. They're very anemic on offense(Matt Ryan is having a sad year). They don't really stop many teams from scoring. Talent-wise, they're 4th in the division and it's not really that close. The game is also in Atlanta...where despite being 5-6 overall, they're 1-4 at home.
But it's still a divisional game and crazy shit can happen. We've seen weak teams take down stronger teams almost weekly. I can understand why we're favored by 11+ but we gotta play better ourselves.
On a side note; hopefully we get more healthy this week. We should get Ali back at least this week, and both Devin White and Jamal Dean escaped serious injuries and could play this week. Arians described it more as a pain tolerance thing for Dean. We could also see the return of Carlton Davis and AB this week.

I hope on any given Sunday we get 6 sacks.

Another shocker.
Longest pass given up by Atlanta - 38 yards.

The Falcons went toe to toe with us at home until the two Edwards interceptions blew the game open..
I have low expectations for this game.

This game has all the makings of a trap game. The Colts game was a hard-fought game that came down to the last second. With this being a division game and the Falcons reduced to playing a spoiler role the pressure will be on the Buccaneers to keep pace in the hopes of getting a bye and winning the division. I trust Tom Brady and Lenny to push the team and avoid the trap but I am still nervous about the game.

Re: Bucs at Falcons Wk 13 discussion
There is no such thing as an NFL trap game. Even the Lions played the Ravens tough. The Ravens are #1 in the AFC. The Lions are winless. Stop. It took a 66 yarder for them to remain winless.
The Falcons have a lot more to play for than we do(looking at the current situation). They need a win more than we do. Don't underestimate that when it comes to outcomes of NFL games. It's usually the more hungry team that wins the game.

Re: Bucs at Falcons Wk 13 discussion
By definition, you just described a trap game. Don't worry about it though since you claim they don't exist.
Re: Bucs at Falcons Wk 13 discussion
A trap game is when you're playing someone clearly inferior to you. The NFL, which is a league of parity, is a collection of paid professionals. These guys could beat anyone on any given Sunday. We would be looking ahead to what? The Bills on a short week for them? The Falcons are in the playoff hunt. I know we all view them as the lowly Falcons... but they're playing pretty decent football. Enough to have 5 wins.13F11B wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 8:47 amBy definition, you just described a trap game. Re: Bucs at Falcons Wk 13 discussion
I agree with you that the talent level in the NFL is very close. Because of this, I do not define an NFL trap game the same way you do.
That is what I mean by saying this game is a trap game for the Buccaneers. My definition is when a team:
- is playing an opponent generally seen as a weaker opponent
- has a higher profile matchup the following weak
and/or
- just played a highly emotional game the previous week
Re: Bucs at Falcons Wk 13 discussion
Aside from all the other ways we are superior to the Falcons... Shaq, JTS, Suh, Vea, Nelson should dominate the line of scrimmage and make this look like a day at the office type win.
Re: Bucs at Falcons Wk 13 discussion
Agreed.
I don't know how a divisional game that is sandwiched between two non-conference opponents (Colts, Bills) could be a trap game.
Divisional games are almost never, ever trap games.
Re: Bucs at Falcons Wk 13 discussion
The Bucs should win this game by double digits.
Falcons are weak along the Oline and outside of Pitts don't have many good options in the passing game.
Defensively they are very meh. They have some athleticism at LB and Grady Jarrett can be a disruptor at DT. But they aren't very stout on either line so the Bucs should own the LoS on both sides of the ball again.
So short of some fuckery and being badly outcoached this should be an enjoyable Sunday afternoon for the Bucs.

Re: Bucs at Falcons Wk 13 discussion
This needs to be a Get Right game for Brady. No more turnovers, 300+ yards, deadly accurate, 3+ TDs. If he can't do that vs the Falcons, then I'm not sure he's going to snap out of the month long slump he's been on.Dread wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 10:36 am The Bucs should win this game by double digits.

I thinks we win, but I would like to see us start faster and play to our potential instead of playing to our opponent's level.

It's crazy b/c the NFL players and coaches think very highly of him based on his draft grade, selection, and #28 ranking in the NFL top 100 after his 2nd NFL season.Nano wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 5:19 pmYeah, it's a joke. He's also a top pro bowl vote getter, so he has national notoriety from fans. Which has never been easy for Bucs players, just ask Lavonte.
Yet PFF hates the guy.
Re: Bucs at Falcons Wk 13 discussion
Someone at PFF needs to explain to me how these "advanced metrics" work.
The guy kicked 6 footballs at the goalposts. All six went through. He was literally perfect at executing his only job. Yet some neckbeard wipes the Hot Pocket grease off his fingers long enough to type, "Kicks weren't perfect enough. The Metrics have spoken. 61!" and it's a real thing that people are supposed to value.
