Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I hope they don’t sign Baker. I see no benefit and potentially negating a Dean comp pick would be really irresponsible.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I think it’s a guarantee they sign one of these QBs with starting experience to compete against/backup Trask.

You mean do the thing they've been saying they want to do this whole time? Bold take.

Ain't nobody trading for a trash guard, fam. Especially one in their contract year.

I also would be surprised if we can find a trade partner, but there is alot of movement with guards at the start of the legal tampering period, so maybe somebody would get desperate? I wouldn't hold my breath.
It doesn't matter if we cut or trade him from a savings perspective, the Bucs get $5.3 million in cap space with $4.3 million in dead cap either way.

His deal also comes with 4 void years. No team is gonna take that on in addition to his $7.5mil salary.Cheb wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 2:16 pmI also would be surprised if we can find a trade partner, but there is alot of movement with guards at the start of the legal tampering period, so maybe somebody would get desperate? I hadn't thought about the void years, but that makes it even less likely for getting a trade partner.Bootz wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 2:22 pmHis deal also comes with 4 void years. No team is gonna take that on in addition to his $7.5mil salary.Cheb wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 2:16 pm

Slight glimpse into the future.
Taylor is a above average RT and he'll be making $20mil/year. Tristan Wirfs will be signing a new deal soon. Negotiations will start above this amount.

I don't get off on calling NFL players "trash" but that's just me.

Baker also threw 10 TD's and 8 INT's. I would be as excited about the Bucs picking up Mayfield as I would a return of Jamies Winston.

10 TDs and 8 INTs...In 10 games. TRASH

I mean, do people really put no weight on anything else... like the system, the coach, the players or scheme... it's purely just "he had his hand on a football and threw 10 TDs".

Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
He has arm talent, that’s about it. Same as Winston.
Huge disappointments relative to draft position.
Edit: Winston can actually scramble tho.

Those of us who have played realize that at the end of the day it really is that simple. Oh! But I'm sure you will want to hide behind a nuanced discussion.

Things have to be near perfect for Baker to excel consistently. And even so, he won’t be elite.

4/52. I like Dean. Fine with this move in a vacuum. Still unsure what the plan is.

Pretty sure his cap hit is minimal this year and there's like 37 voided years added on. Even still I think we overpaid him.

Very happy to keep Dean. LVD next please.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I thought he was gone for sure. Not as much as I thought he would get. This opens up a lot of possibilities with their first round pick. I don't see them investing a lot in the QB position financially now.

Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Anytime I hear that a team doesn't plan go invest a lot in their QB position it means they don't plan to win. Honestly would've rather upgraded from Dean and re‐signed LVD with this money.

Very surprised by this move, but he might have gotten a better deal elsewhere.
He fits the man scheme(not zone), should be interesting to hear details on contract. Average per year isn't that bad.

Damn, great news! We're not pigeonholed into a corner now.
We're paying the price for a half-measure taken by The Union 160 years ago.
The New Union will correct that mistake.
