I'm not saying the Chiefs would do it, I'm just asking YOU if YOU would just flip them 1 for 1. You said that the Chiefs are 6-0 because of their defense. My point is that your stance (they're 6-0 because of their defense), is meritless because you'd still take Mahomes over Mayfield. I'd contend that our record would be better than 4-3 with Mahomes and the Chiefs would be worse than 6-0 with Baker. Meaning, the Chiefs aren't 6-0 because of their defense like you're suggesting.
Ok? Are we swapping the coaching staffs too? These hypotheticals are ridiculous.

Mahomes’ numbers and the Chiefs’ numbers as an offense this year aren’t good. He has 6 TD passes and 8 INTs. They aren’t 6-0 because Mahomes is playing well and carrying them.

The most points they’ve given up in a game this year is 25. We’ve given that up+ in every game but 2.

Baker and the offense are the reason we have 4 wins.
Nope, just Mahomes and Mayfield.

You understand that the reason you think their offense isn't good is because it's not good based on historic numbers, right? You're comparing this years Chiefs offense to past "Chiefs" offenses and not the current NFL. As of right now, they ranks 10th in yards per game and 13th in points per game. That's actually not too bad. They're also doing that with their top WR out since W4, they're #2 WR (Marquis Brown who was supposed to be their #1 WR), has been out all year and their RB1 out since W3. There are a LOT of offenses that would not be ranked in the top 13 (points) or top 10 (yards), if they lost all 3 of their top play makers by W4. Probably like 30 of them.

Your stance on this is kinda funny. You lauded Mayfield for last year and you're minimizing Mahomes this year. This year, KC's defense ranks 5th in points against, we ranked 7th last year. We only won 9 games last year against a relatively easy schedule with the 20th ranked scoring offense while KC is going to hit 12 or 13 wins this year with probably a top 10 offense by seasons end... and you're saying it's because of their defense.

Incorrect, our offense is the reason for 2 wins, not 4. Our defense is the reason we beat Detroit. I know, you're going to point to the TD run by Mayfield in the 3rd Q as the reason we won that game... and you would be wrong. Why? Two reasons... 1) Our defense gave up only 16 points to a teams that's averaging over 30 points per game (we won and only scored 20). 2) Our offense put up a whopping 27 yards on 3 drives in the 4th Q. If our defense doesn't turn them over 3 times in the 4th Q (1 Int, 2 on downs), we lose that game. Also, our defense was just as responsible for the Washington win as the offense. Our defense gave up 14 points when the game mattered. The 'oh-by-the-way' TD is much like our last TD last night... it just made the game look closer than it was. Yeah, our offense put up a lot of points, but they really only needed to put up 17.

I think the biggest reason for our offense being better than last year is Coen being a lot better than Canales. I don't think Canales was really all that good. I mean, he was "ok", but a lot was made of him that I thought was sunshine pumping. Our offense is much better this year and nothing much really changed except scheme.

I was thinking about this today. Prior to signing Baker, Lamar was possibly in play because his negotiations with the Ravens were not going well. But who knows if Lamar was using the media to get the Ravens to bite.

I remember at the time the rumors going around that he wanted to go back home (Florida). Jags had Lawrence, Phins had Tua so that left us because Brady was set to retire and we needed a QB.

To think possibly we had a chance at Lamar (Not without cost) Evans and more are definitely gone but it is fun to wonder what we would look like today.

The reason Mahomes was brought up was because @acmillis came in with the "hahaha, how's Baker going to do now without any weapons?!"

The entire point of me bringing him up is even the best QB in the world can struggle a little bit if they don't have their play-makers. If you want to suggest they're still a good offense and are winning because of it to make some arbitrary point about Mayfield then more power to you. The truth is their defense is incredible and they have been average at best without their WRs and starting RB on offense.

I'm prepared for Mayfield's numbers to decline without Evans/Godwin, because even a QB as great as Mahomes will suffer without their best players to help him out. I realize the haters will pile on when that happens.

Our offense has been really good this year, top 3. Not debatable. Our defense has been really bad this year, bottom 3. Not debatable. I don't know what last year's end of season totals have to do with anything in 2024?

In that scenario, there'd have been some creative math, just like everyone else. Honestly, with Jackson, I don't think we'd need both Godwin and Evans. I don't think that Jackson is good enough as a passer to utilize both of them to their capabilities.

No, my argument was to put to bed your ridiculous statement that Kansas City was winning in spite of their offense. That's clearly NOT the case.

To note, yes, Mayfield's numbers will drop... which was my point for the last year+. Mayfield's numbers are what they are solely because of the talent around him. Which goes to my overall point that any competent QB can put up numbers and win here, and there's no reason to pay an average QB $40M+ to do what any average QB can do.

I think the price pretty officially would be

Kancey
Barton
Lamar's contract

Maybe Ravens do something else with the FRP's, but that's who we took with them.

My "argument" is that Baker does not make these guys better. Evans, Godwin, and especially Liam, make Baker look good. With 2/3 of that equation missing, we'll see what he's made of. My guess is Baker will try to play the "Captain Saveahoe" role and completely implode.

Mahomes is 16th in yards. 23rd in TD passes. 23rd in passer rating. Tied for the most INTs in the NFL. They're 18th in points scored with a top 5 defense. My argument is ridiculous? We're averaging 26.0 points per game given up. They've only scored more than that twice. 27 against the Ravens and 28 against the against the 49ers. They'd probably be 3-3 with our defense. I don't think Mahomes would have changed anything for our record with this defense.

Doesn't make them better? We're having an historic offensive season.

This is also my entire point though. Take these things away from Patrick Mahomes and he's clearly human. You can't apply the pessimistic logic unilaterally to Baker only. You're biased.

Of course I’m biased. We’re all posting on a fringe message board for a NFL franchise almost nobody cares about.

Certainly not. But, any time acquiring him had to pay him and give up draft capital. I see another poster pointed that out, and ultimately he would have cost more than just two 1sts.

No I think what he's saying, its that there was a choice and we chose Evans and Godwin and nothing wrong about that. That's fair

With the way Lamar is playing right now all I we can do is imagine the possibility.

Pretty much that and you’re trading multiple picks too. If you’re going to pay the QB $50M+ it’s tough to pay 2 WRs $20M+ too.

That’s why it’s an odd argument to disparage Baker with supporting cast arguments. His contract is a big reason we can afford them.

What's the point we're trying to get at here?

Guys like Mahomes and Lamar are next level. In huge part due to their situation, coaching, and sheer dumb luck.

I maintain, NFL is more dependent on opportunity and fit-to-team, than talent. This idea that you can just drop greats like Mahomes and Lamar into franchises like Cleveland or NY and they'll overcome all that stench with sheer talent and willpower is just the fairy tale they sell us.

Again, Wilson doesn't veto his own trade, he's an Eagles and Hurts is a bench warmer. Lamar goes to any but a handful of HC smart enough to actually see what's there, the guy a PS WR. Of no faults of their own mind you. That's the point.

I'd much rather take Kirk Cousins with O'Connell than Jeff Fisher with Lamar.

With all that said what's the point we're trying to make? We have a great thing going here with Liam and Baker and we, what, want to throw it away chasing some Lamar dragon dream?

There's only one Lamar. There's only one Mahomes. Other QBs won chips during the Brady era and they didn't do so sitting around waiting for the next Brady.

In that scenario, there'd have been some creative math, just like everyone else. Honestly, with Jackson, I don't think we'd need both Godwin and Evans. I don't think that Jackson is good enough as a passer to utilize both of them to their capabilities.
But he's good enough to utilize guys like Zay Flowers, Rashad Bateman, and Mark Andrews. If people want to continue doubting him as a passer I feel sorry for you because you have no clue as to what you're seeing.

Yes, your argument is ridiculous. They're not winning despite Mahomes and their offense. Their offense is as productive as it is, because of Mahomes. A lesser QB would not have gotten that production with the injuries they've had.

We beat Atlanta and Denver NO DOUBT with Mahomes. Don't kid yourself. I'd even say we might be 7-0.

You're digging yourself into a deep ditch with that one. You won't get far trying to make a Mahomes/Baker comparison.

Other than the last two sentences which are baseless speculation that can never be proven or disproven everything I've posted there is 100% accurate. No comparison between the two QBs has been made. I only brought up Mahomes because he's struggling this year without elite weapons.

Might be why they're adding Hopkins? Hmm.

I only have a Mayfield T-shirt. It’s kind of like a “day of the dead” caricature of his face. Pretty cool looking.

I don’t care for your typical merch like jerseys. Feels very fat old white man to me.

I hope those guys were buds that all went to the game together. Good schtick.

I'm not quite sure just what kind of judgement you're trying to pass on other people but it sounds stupid.
