I don’t know the game screw your neighbor how does that go?

It's pretty simple and boring. You put up 3 (5 is way too long), stacks... you choose the amount. We usually make them 3 stacks of $1. The object of the game isn't to win, just not lose. The person with the lowest card loses.

Everyone gets dealt 1 card face down. The person to the left of the dealer goes first. They look at their card and determine if they think their card is high enough to not lose. If they don't like the card... maybe a 2 or 3, they switch cards with the person to their left. No matter what that person's card is, they must trade cards... unless they have a King. That person keeps their King and the one trying to switch must keep their card and the game progresses.

If they like their card, they say "Good", and the person (to the left, obviously), goes and the game progresses. It goes all the way to the dealer. Since there's no player left of the dealer, they can switch with the top card of the deck. The person(s), with the lowest card that round, puts one of their stacks into the pot. Once you lose all your stacks, you're out. When only one person has stacks left, they win the pot.

This game is usually how we wrap up the night.

Not sure he’ll be back this year. But 12 years for Mr. Gholston in pewter and red. Not bad for a 5th round pick
Every team needs a Gholston, shows up and does his job. Not special in anything but good enough at everything. Good enough for the guys that are special to do their thing.

Special being a relative term here, everyone at that level is special

Maybe Logan Hall will take over as the new Will Gholston?
We're paying the price for a half-measure taken by The Union 160 years ago.

The New Union will correct that mistake.

It's not what we expected from the pick, but at a certain point you just accept the sunk cost and identify what is. If he is the new Gholston and he accepts the pay of a Gholston, that I can work with that.

I'll hope he has a breakout year, and someone else finds out if he's worth the crazy new contract.

It's incredible how you tie an entire players identity to where some GM drafted them that one day.

Draft groupies are the astrology girls of the league.

Fans do it. The teams do it. Even the players do it. JTS leaving for Cleveland and Anthony Nelson staying are perfect examples.

I've just not seen consistently high play from Hall to warrant a big new contract. Licht has a bad habit of overpaying. Add the void year disasters into the mix and it's a recipe for expensive mediocrity.

The benefit of hindsight? Don’t you mean AFTER an actual and realistic analysis can be formulated? Guilty. Why would anyone do otherwise?

That’s why you get so bent out of shape when you’re regularly wrong. You convince yourself so strongly that the position you take is GOING to be correct, it might as well have happened already. You’re one of those who’s the loudest in the offseason because you can make affirmations all day and know they can’t be proven 1 way or another because no football will be played for months.

So yes. I actually wait and see how a player performs before making a final assessment. I don’t do like you and crown whoever Jason Licht drafts simply because he drafts them. I suppose you’re still holding out hope for Jose Ramirez and that HOF spot.

If Licht gives any of our guys a new contract, it's immediately "highest paid at x position".

Milton Williams got mega-paid this off-season. He had 5 sacks and 24 tackles (7 TFLs) in the regular season. Hall had 5.5 sacks and 28 tackles (6 TFLs).

Mediocre gets paid in free agency. If Hall repeats those numbers or improves on them somewhat he definitely gets a nice contract somewhere.

No joke:
Milton Williams signed a 4 year, $104,000,000 contract with the New England Patriots, including $24,000,000 signing bonus, $63,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $26,000,000. In 2025

We have a bunch of starters in line for new deals:

Hall
Goedeke
McCollum
Otton

If they can get Goedeke and McCollum extended maybe Hall gets a franchise tag here? Otherwise I don't see him as a Buc next year. He'll price himself out with a decent season. I don't know that I like going into training camp/regular season with this many guys needing new deals, but I imagine it's motivational for all of them.

Goedeke doesn't seem like the hold out type, but I'd imagine he has the most leverage for something like that if he wanted to.

They're either let go, or highest paid at the position. We all had the same fears moments before they officially let Winston walk out the door.

Goedeke will likely be next on that list.

Tell me you dont know ball without telling me you dont know ball. You keep looking at stats sheets for answers.

I'll just put this here: Vita Vea received a 4 year, $73mil extension from the Bucs after a season where he put up 33 tackles 4 sacks and 5 TFL. He's mediocre, right?

That's pretty typical of extensions for home grown best at their position types of players though. Wirfs doesn't deserve to be the highest paid? Winfield didn't?

Wirfs proved to be exceptional from year one onward. Winfield had one exceptional year. Jensen: highest paid center.

I'm just saying it almost seems like Licht is embarrassed if he isn't offering a "highest paid x" contract to a player. Like he tells everyone "you're the best" and then feels obligated to have the money match his mouth. That's fine for a sport without a salary cap with owners of unbound wealth.

I'd be willing to bet he offered record breaking money to Brady and Tom had to push back with "hold up, pump the brakes here Jason ... you pay me this, then how are we going to afford the rest of the Superbowl caliber roster? I'll take X, and let's build from there."
