I think it’s a much more nuanced discussion than simply posting a list of guys who put up the best stats against us in a given game. Especially when you’re forced to include names like Nico Collins and Saquon Barkley who absolutely did not decimate some inferior defensive gameplan in the games we played against them.
I think Bowles prioritizes stopping the run over anything and sometimes to a fault. The personnel he’s working with is definitely a part of that, just like it’s a part of inferior pass coverage especially in the short yardage against RBs
I am not some Bowles apologist, his defense frustrates the hell out of me sometimes. And I won’t pretend I know all the possible adjustments or things he could do differently to help the defense. He’s much more knowledgable about defensive gameplans than you or I will ever be.
But I see that list posted every week and the point you make based on the list, and the stats provided on the list have never really seemed like they match up with each other to me, especially when the greater context of the game is considered.
You tried your hardest to make whatever point you were looking for and FAILED.
And it really isnt a nuanced discussion, like people here try to make everything seem when you don't understand. Does Bowles make a concerted effort to stop the other teams best weapons? Results show he really doesn't. You confirm you dont believe he does. You said he prioritizes stopping the run. Would kinda dictate that a real effort isn't put into the top weapon impacting the game, which each one here has.
You’re really losing your fastball as your tired schtick continues to age. You never post anything worthwhile and when you know you have no point to make or leg to stand on you simply post a laughing emoji and lash out. You used to be much better at this, sad.
Half your list is running backs, yet stopping the run doesn’t count as gameplan against the top player? So your point is ‘the best offensive player on the other team impacted the game?’ What analysis! And when your bar is 74 yards on 23 touches it sure isn’t hard to make the cutoff.
You know that lazy ass list is shit analysis and didn’t like that I pointed out the flaws. Sorry bud

Losing?
Fuck, you give him credit for ever having a fastball.

"But it's more nuanced than that".
This is why you never argue with clowns
Most of this yardage comes from screens. Bowles has often said we sell out to stop the run. This team has also been quoted as saying the screen game is an extension of the run.
There are several plays a game where there isn't a man assigned to the RB and he's wide open to take a screen pass. This is a flaw in the Bowles system. Being #1 against the run and worst against screens is not the #1 run defense in my eyes. There's a reason they were showing Gibbs' total yardage was more than our entire offense's yardage.
I know we're blaming Sirvocea in these instances, but is there a LB in the league that can tackle these guys out in space on swing passes with no help? Granted, the early play to Gibbs SVD had McCollum out there and he overran it, but there are others where he's in the box run blitzing and just gets caught. RB sneaks out and the QB laughs as he chucks it out there for the easiest of chunk plays.
I really wish we were playing more like the Lions did. We have the DBs to do it now. Why is Dean playing off St. Brown by 15 yards? Why are we giving them these free releases and easy throws over the middle?
It's maddening.
I'd so much rather teams have to throw it down the field to beat us.

Adjustments need made.
He hasn't made those adjustments in the 6 years he's been here. The identity of this defense is sell out vs the run, whatever happens with the pass happens.
At least you do understand the overall point I was making. He puts no effort in focusing on the other teams best weapon.

PRECISELY!!
It may not always work because the opposing offenses are talented and have jobs to do. But at least make things a little hard for them.
Every time I see a RB catch a pass in the flat against us, I fully expect a 15-20 yard game and it usually happens that way. We give receivers more free releases than most teams I can recall (The Bengals are worse than us at that though. Good God!)
It never seems like teams struggle to move the ball against us unless they are just a subpar offense.
Detroit made us earn every yard Monday. Every catch there was a defender there to make a play. Every run RBs were contacted. Baker didn't even have a rush attempt because Detroit defended those rush lanes.

Obviously it is more nuanced than that because if you said the Bucs defense is bad when it comes to giving up receiving yards to RBs then no one would argue with that.
It seems you can’t even keep track of the point you think you’re making.

All 3 of those names are on that list, genius. Stopping them in general wasn't what we tried to do.
You're so bad at this. Like I said, I don't argue with clowns. You're dismissed.

So are JSN, Nico Collins, and Saquon lol Two of which were not effective against us whatsoever.
You don’t have a coherent point because you refuse to say ‘Well they actually did well against Barkley’ you just try to force him in with those other names even when he was shut down by the defense.

You're dismissed.
Bootz doesn't like the Bucs, he likes arguing with Buc fans. That's his passion.
Actually it seems that outside of one solid drive and one broken play a game offenses do struggle. Defense is getting themselves off the fields plenty. Even with the injuries, we are improved from last year stopping 3rd downs a very respectable 66% of the time. League best is 70%, worse is the Panthers 49%. Even better is we've gone from one of the worst 4th down defenses to top 3. Which is great as going for it becomes more popular.
Pass rush issues are the same as last year. Scheme continues to set up some great 1 on 1s, and we are winning them a little more often, but still far too many "just a split second late" moments. It was what held Bowles back from going more press last year and I think it continues this year. CBs ARE better this year, so he is doing it more, but still not at the level he likes because the pass rush isn't trusted to get home. I think it's a circular issues and by pressing more we could then in fact by that extra second for the pass rush to get there. But you have to take the leap of faith first to see the results that justify the leap, and count that even after bad plays it's a net positive on the aggregate. Because there will be broken plays. Though it is good to see that most of them are from misfits from the guys lacking experience. You hope that starts to lessen.
Lastly, more often than not when we've said "we need a stop here" this year we've actually gotten it. We just didn't do anything with it, but we got it. Being able to count of your defense for that is a big shift for us.
Oh, and to be fair if you were to say about any defense "they gave up 100 rec yards to 3 RBs, who were they" those are exactly the 3 RB names you'd say.
Can’t overlook any opponent, let alone intra-division games, so it should be competitive (Buccaneers injuries carry some water here as well). I think Rattler is at worst a below average starting quarterback in the NFL. Which is a compliment, I think.
NO is quite bad though. Limit the mistakes, play physical, feed EE, and win.
I guess they are trying to see if Bucky's injuries will heal on their own. LVD prolly needs the knife, maybe Goedeke. Winfield seems slow. McCollum needs to get some plays on the board. Just normal stuff.
