Jensen was great here. That last deal didn't work out, but I don't know how it's Licht's fault Aaron Stinnie got bitch slapped into Jensen's knee.
I'd be willing to bet he offered record breaking money to Brady and Tom had to push back with "hold up, pump the brakes here Jason ... you pay me this, then how are we going to afford the rest of the Superbowl caliber roster? I'll take X, and let's build from there."
That said, Licht is not the best negotiator. AWJ Jr was able to strong arm his way into being the highest paid safety in football. Had his agent go to social media the weekend before mandatory camp and say he wasn't showing up on the franchise tag at all. Wirfs did the same thing almost except he showed up in shorts and just watched. Now Wirfs had a much better case for being the highest paid LT than Winfield did the highest paid S. But imagine if we kept AWJ on the tag and called his bluff. He plays on the franchise tag and has the year he had. What kind of deal you offering him now?
